Paul bought an Ionic Breeze for the Lincoln a while back (the kind that just plugs into the cigarette lighter). We usually only turn it on only when we're in the car, but today I kept it on since I was smoking and I was just going into a few places real quick running errands.

So, I get back into the car and I take off and all of a sudden I smell plastic burning and all this smoke pouring out of the ionizer and cigarette lighter! The damn thing caught on fire!

Luckilly, I was in the car and caught it right away. The car smells bad and the ionizer is no more but everything else is ok. Anyways, just thought I'd share the highlight of my day and be careful what you keep plugged into your cigarette lighter.

That would suck having your car burn to the ground over a $2 air freshener!

I smell law suit, or at least a major bitch letter, "I demand compensation"

I'd write down as many details as possible, date it, save the "evidence", and keep it in a safe place just in case this ends up going as a class action lawsuit. Contact the manufacturer and let them know what happened and send pictures. With any luck you'll be reimbursed or you'll get a new one that hopefully won't catch on fire.

I'm glad to hear you caught it in time and we're not looking at car carnage pictures.
