I am off to court fo my sentencing,
I told a few of you about my little run in with The law recently....
For those I did'nt, here' the short version:
Went out , drank, drove, got pulled over blew a .11(6 blocks from my house...lol)and arrested.. Charged with OWI
I got the OWI charge reduced to Opperating while visibly Impaired(owvi)
Half the points/fines and no license suspension....
I'll let ya all know the outcome when i return.....

So, I am home......
I got probation, I knew I would...
6months- non reporting probabtion
I also have to go to an Alcahol program on 1 saturday
Also a victim impact panel on a thursday night (both of wich i am going to have to pay more for..lol)
Edit: also a nice lil 90 day restriction on my license...
The fines and court costs including probation were a total of 970 bucks!
the fine for the OWI was 300, I didnt think they were going to add almost 700 to that!
Now I also have to pay the driver responsability crap, wich is 500 a year for 2 years totaling 1k :(
Add in my lawyer and Im approching 3k! Add in the couple hundred more for the two programs I am going to have to attend and its just over 3k not counting how much my insurance is goin to go up......
I am only pissed about this because I was not hammered, I was fine and only got pulled over for my windows.... But I know I was over the legal limit, so I have to accept the outcome of my actions...blah blah..... No more of that stuff for this guy....

Oh, that was below the belt :nutkick:, kicking a man when he's down. Like Chuck said though, it could have been much worse.

Sorry to hear about that, especially about the restricted license........make sure you adhere to the 90 days. Don't stray, it seems that they know when you do and all of a sudden the red and blues are behind ya.

Thats my point about not tinting windows.. yes it looks cool but the trouble it brings ain't worth it IMO.
Glad ya didn't have to do any time in county.. :bna:

For future reference, this is how you handle the question of alchohol while driving;
1) Refuse the breathalyzer at the scene. He may take your license there, but this is not what seperates you from your driving privledges. It's refusing at the police station that does that. You are buying time if you feel you need it.
2) Take the breathalyzer at the police station. If you are at .08 or slightly over (say .012 or so) you have to request the next step.
3) Request a blood test. These are more accurate than a breathalyzer and this is what will be used as a final number in court. It also buys you more time, as this has to be done at a hospital. Lets face it, how quick does anyone get served at a hospital?
If you are not at .08 by this time, you shouldn't have been on the road anyway and deserve your royal screwing from the court and the state. Of course, you'll need to be sober enough to remember these steps.
