O.K. I paid $2.19 a gallon for regular unleaded for my Jeep this morning. This is bullshit. I'm gonna start riding my bicycle to work every day even if it takes me 2 hours each way. Nah, on second thought I'm too lazy to do that I'll just keep bitching about the prices. Sorry I just had to rant.

Just got back from a road trip to Ohio to drop off some parts. Took the SC Olds that requires premium fuel and weighs 4000 lbs, my average speed was 74 mph and I got 26.8 mpg. Wonder what would happen if I slowed down a little?

That's not always true Mike. I've been in Toledo for work, and on the odd occasion, gas was cheaper in Michigan. That website might help make a decision though.

I remember when gas prices first went up after 9/11... People were filling their cars up at $2 a gallon, then using the filling nozzle to beat the hell out of the gas pump when they were done.

It's all about greed and seeing how much they can get outta us! Doesn't help our gas is taxed to hell!! (Thanks staoe of Michigan!! )

Weve got plenty of oil here, we just wont pump it out of the ground or build the needed refinery's. Just be glad youre not in California.

It's the LACK OF REFINERIES that causes these gas prices...

It's more than that....supply and demand. Basic economics here....except gas companies put "theory" into their equation. Such as "we predict Asia will need more crude oil this year so supply will be down inflating prices today"

Not that anyone here would use this stuff, but with the current cost of gas I thought I'd price out some E-85. My Ranger is a flex-fuel vehicle and can use E-85 as well as gasoline. E-85 is 85% gasoline and 15% ethenol.
The only eastside station that sells it is the BP/Amaco at Rochester Rd and M-59. The cost was $3.01 a gallon!!! Ethenol come from corn. If the expensive stuff is gasoline, what the hell??? That, and the mileage is worse. The only reason to use this stuff I guess is that it burns cleaner (emissions). Screw the ozone, I could buy premium for that and have enough for a good lunch :D .

What pisses people off is that prices jump constantly. A friend of mine worked at a gas station and you know how they'd set the price? They'd send him or someone else down the street and see what everyone else was charging. You here these guys complaining "I don't make any money on gas".
Bullshit if you're not making money go do something else!! can see why people get pissed off!! Companies do set prices but I gaurantee they can charge above what they're told. Just my little rant-I'm done.
Its like 104, my Focus has the same problem.
Lol! I haven't gone over 90mph in the Focus because that little motor sounds like it's going to explode.

You do realize that gas stations make majority of their money off their marts and garages right?

yeah someone told me that gas stations actually make more money off the the stuff they sell inside the store rather than the gas itself..dont know if its true or not
My dad used to own a gas station. Anyways, that's pretty much true. The average they make on gas is usually .03 to .06 cents per gallon (depending on the company, etc). The big money is in selling cigarettes, pop, food, etc... and almost everyone that comes in purchases that.

Its $1.25-up for 20oz a pop when you can get a 2 liter for $1-$1.50  Communists...
