This idea is starting to grow on me. Take a look at the black Cobra in this link and tell me if you like this tinted taillight look....

Really looks good on certain cars. The black Cobra looks pretty good, Id like to see one in person to get the whole effect, Im considering doing it on my black 89LX

I always liked the way the back of my Cobra looked...then I saw this pic and now I think the taillights stand out too much :cool:

I'm not sure either....just looking for opinions right now I guess.

Hey Chuck, question, how come your car says Cobra on the back, and Al's says Mustang? Has Al's been in a wreck and had the bumper cover replaced, or is this a Ford production fuck up?

99 Cobra's had "Mustang" bumpers...I replaced mine with an 01 "Cobra" bumper that found it's way out of a Ford plant already painted somehow :naughty:

It looks good on a black car but it borders rice a little.

Chuck is right, Ford thought that it would be a good idea to cheap out and put the "Mustang" on the bumper of the 99 Cobra, but then spent the extra bucks for "Cobra" on the bumper of the 2001's. But the funnt thing is that Ford put "Cobra" on a few of the earlier models too. Yay for Ford. Now I have to spend the extra money to do a swap. And yes Chuck, I tinted mine with VHT, the poilishing compound, then a good wax.

I've always liked red taillights. Just not my thing to tint them or get clears.. Its your car, do it your way.

u shouldn't need other peoples opinion. if you like it, go for it, if u dont then dont. it seems like so many people are worried what other people think of their car more than they do. im not raggin on you chuck it just seems that most people build their car for what is in style rather than their own taste. i personally have always like the look of black outs. people call rice on them all the time but what is it that u see that almost every ricer has??? Altezza's not black outs. i am planning on using Nightshades on my red/orange camaro this spring..if u guys dont like i personally dont care.. :P because i like how it looks...

yeah i know what u mean..i dont have the problem with my camaro though.i can find a good set of tail lights for like 30 bucks if i ever decide i dont want them blacked out anymore.. :D

Spend the $ and buy an extra set from the junkyard and paint those.. That way if you screw it up or change your mind later its an easy fix. "prepare for the best and Expect the worst" ;)

Actually, I wouldn't mind tinting the fog lights. I have the tinted Cobra headlights already. :cool:

I can tell you that it would look like shit on my Forest Green Stang so I wouldn't do it, plus if you get pulled over by the wrong cop.....that's an expensive ticket.

Well, I went ahead and tinted the tail lights last night with the VHT translucent tint. It looks great on a black car. It's not anywhere as dark as in the pics you see earlier in this post. It looks like the stock tinted headlights.

I'll take pics later. I'm happy with the results. :D
