I was at the Woodward Dream Cruise Saturday night for the first time ever in my life having a great time, before I got pulled over by the biggest jerk of a cop I have ever met (and I used to have 13 pts. if any of you are familiar with Michigan's system that is a lot of big tickets, five to be exact in less than two years) and handed a ticket for "squeeling tires/ unnecessary noise." I know he spelled squealing wrong, so does the list of ticket costs printed on the back flap of the ticket printed by Ferndale Police Department. A state officer (who also was acting like a total jerk, wtf?!?) later on the cruise said the ticket was a four-point violation. I hope he was yanking my chain, I don't mind the $110 fine so much, that makes some sense but 4 points is more than careless driving and the same as drag racing, and that ticket can also be issued for engine revving and loud stereos, and getting four points for squealing tires or unnecessary noise is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard! I'm fighting it for sure, wish me luck!!!

Squealing tires does not = unnecessary noise (aka Noise Pollution)

Squealing tires is a moving violation and BIG points. Probably the 4 points you were told. And because it happed during WDC, when there were a lot of other cars and people around, you will likely have the book thrown at you. You're very likely fucked.

Noise pollution is an ordinance violation ond zero points. I have had 14 noise pollution tickets since my 16 birthday. You just pay those and call it a day.

Well thats what the ticket reads. He wrote "squeeling tires" on the ticket. On the back of the ticket there is a connected flap. The flap gives an entire list of Civil Infraction, followed by the price. For "squeeling tires," it lists it paired with unnecessary noise like so "squeeling tires/ unnecessary noise."

Man that wouldn't surprise me but I hope you are wrong. My wedding is in 18 days and I am footing most of the bill and I can't afford any of this balogna. I wouldn't even have ripped 'em loose but the guy behind me did, then a guy on the other side did, so I did it, I don't know never been down there before thought they were gonna be cooler about it but I guess not, me and my friend figure that they probably singled me out because I was in an outside lane. :(

Yeah, they don't fuck around out there anymore. There has been a lot of cops coming down hard on people in the the last few years. I remember Sunday 2005, the day after the cruise, people were racing all night, and I didn't see any cops. It was a blast, well in 2006, nobody raced, cops all over, and in 2007 it rained, so I didn't even go out there.

I got one in 05 and it was 0 points, call the courthouse to be sure on the points. You are better off paying it if it is no points than fighting it....

Squealing tires is a NO POINTS ticket. If he gave you "careless driving" and said you were squealing your tires you might get it knocked down.

Go to court. I'm sure they will be flooded with tickets. They might knock stuff down just to get rid of it and collect some $$$

I wouldnt trust any thing but going to court.I do every time.Put in an appearence,go to court(in a suit looking respectfull) and most of the time you plea "Responsible with an explaination"and they drop to a no points charge and you pay a bigger fine.I just did it Friday in Taylor from when I was doing 90mph leaving the airport.Although,it does help to have a good record. They do look!

Squealing tires is a NO POINTS ticket.

Right on guys, thanks alot!!! I called Secretary of State in Lansing and they said that the state cop was just pulling my chain, that they don't even officially recognize that as a violation and it is just a local ordinance ticket, so not only is there no points but it probably won't even show up on my driving record.
