As some of you might known that a little while back my in-dash DVD/CD/TV/NAV Pioneer AVIC-N1 had it's display go black and it would not illuminate anymore. This happened a few months ago and they initially told me that the repair would cost me $200 plus shipping. Well, I felt that for $2000.00 for this piece of A/V equipment should last more than 2 years with NO troubles. Plus, I really didn't care to pull the unit and it's brain from my truck and be without music or movies for that long. So I held out, made a complaint or two about the black display over the following couple months.
Anyway, I called Pioneer again Tuesday of last week, told them I wanted to file a service repair order and send my AVIC in. (now that spring is here and I just want the thing fixed now.) She tells me that the problem is just a "FLEX" cable and that there is now a recall on it and all I had to do was pay for shipping there. I pulled the in-dash and the brain out that same day, and shipped it out the next day. I paid USPS for 2 day shipping + insurance for $2000.00...Pioneer received the item late on fucking Tuesday...4 business days later. Anyway, they fixed it early the next morning (Yesterday), and then overnighted me my AVIC back and also sent it to me with an EARLY delivery...so I had it waiting for me when I got into work this morning.
It's now back in my truck and working perfectly. :D
Cliff notes:
FUCK USPS!!!!
Hooray Pioneer service dept! :D
