Not to familiar with these things so here goes..
I've been looking for a set up pistons for my engine and having a hard time trying to figure out what compression distance i need to get to approximately a 11:1 compression ratio.
My 400 is bored .060 over and I have 76cc heads. Right now im looking at a set of forged pistons from Keith Black. they have 2 different styles Dome and Flat top.
The dome pistons have a Compression distance of 1.433 and the flat tops have one of 1.133.
Then it starts talking about piston head volume and some other things and now im completely confused....:lol: I'm just looking to get around 11:1 compression. Basically i want to go as high as possible but still be safe and able to run 93 with out any troubles.
here's the link:

anyways hopefully someone here will be able to help me out a bit

Thanks for that link..that was exactly what i was lookin for
Found a few sets that look they will work good and leave me with about 10.9 - 11.1 compression :bna:

Still pretty far out. I have a decent running 350 sitting in the car right now that im going to run with until i get my 400 back in action early-mid summer. so far the list includes:
-Set of forged pistions
-new cam
-Electric Fuel pump w/ new lines to motor and new fuel filter
- bigger trans cooler
those are the main things i can think of off the top of my head. then of coarse all the minor things that will nickel and dime me to death..
and if i can swing it by then it will have a nice heathy 125 shot of the happy gas .
should make for a pretty fun car..hoping for a 11 second pass by the end of the season..We'll see how it goes :bna:

I've got new Holley Blues w/ regulator for $97 plus tax at work. Just got my longblock all set. Waiting on pushrods right now so I can finish the top half of the motor. Gotta modify the pick-up tube to work w/ the piece of sh$% windage tray.

I still have a lot more to do. Yours will look better no doubt. I wouldn't count on me beating you-you never know. Hopefully my pile of parts works well together.

We'll just have to wait and see  I'm hoping to have the 400 back in the car around May or June
This winter the whole car is getting sanded down and im going to be putting 3-4 new coats of clear coat over the paint. There are some areas on my car that the clear is faded and started peeling..Car should look pretty damn good after that..now i just need to get rid of that orange :lol:

yeah but its those ugly car's that you have to look out for because you know what all their money went towards ;)
Either way it should be a fun race, If it ever happens

You're talking to him  I'm not going to be changing the color of the car yet though, this is just a quick fix to make the car look a bit better. Next winter i'll be going all out and painting the car..still unsure on the color though. i was thinking a "black cherry" or some 2 or 3 stage paint. Should look badass when im done with it :D
I've been doing body work since i was about 14 so i've gotten pretty good at it. I painted my 91 Camaro (the blue and silver stripe car) myself and i also painted my old 88 Firebird. here's a pic of how it turned out..shitty camera at the time..the picture doesnt do the paint justice by anymeans.

yeah but i'd like to be able to pull up to whatever gas station i feel like and only have to put premium in..i dont need a full out race car, just more expensive when they break and they seem to do that alot more often to lol ;)

does 10:1 compression 408 ci with 2 stages of NOS count as a race motor?
if so then I may have to go find one too for next year.
