Ok, try to keep it short. I moved into this house the 1st of May last year, the previous owners called for final readings and the utilities were put in my name. So I get notice from the water dept that they need to see the inside meter cause they dont think the outside one is reading correctly. They come, everything is fine, and they end up oweing me because theyve been estimating my bill based on the previous owners. OK no big deal, now Edison sends me notice that my meter hasnt been read since Feb of 04, so they need to make an apointment. I call and make an appointment and I ask how theyre gonna correct the read, since Ive only been hear since may, and the guy says they get the read and if its more than Ive been billed they will charge me,and if its less than I get a credit. Im like wait a minute, Ive only been here since May, and the previous owner had 5 people living here, Im not paying their Feb-April bill. He's confused. I get 2 more calls concerning the same thing. They send someone out to read the meter. Well, I guess they figured it out right, because I just got a nice credit on my bill, $5.00 for 2 months usage. But what I want to know is why didnt they take the final readings like theyre supposed to back in may, and how many people are gettin screwed cause the meter readers arn't doing their job. I see the meter reader in my neighbor hood all the time, and he never comes to my door for access, even if the dogs are inside.

Because everything is a scam....everything.
I got a nice notice in the mail saying my escrow account underestimated and my payments will be going up an additional $240 a month (mind you, just for escrow on property tax and home insurance). F-that. Already talking to my mortgage guy....getting a slightly better interest rate and dropping PMI.

Things that have gone up this year:
Electric
Gas
Food
Property tax
Gasoline
= 30% increase

Pay has only gone up about 8%....hmmmmm. This sucks ass.

PMI.

PMI has got to be the biggest scam there is. Mortgage insurance, for the mortgage company, not for you, but you have to pay for it. So if you get sick and default on your mortgage, the insurance takes care of the mortgage company. But the mortgage company is gonna take your house and sell it and get their money anyway, so what exactly is the PMI for, to double pay the mortgage company, what a load of crap.

Yup....exactly. House has gone up enough to cover the gap and get us to the 20% we need to get rid of it.

It was the property tax that killed me...they estimated $3,000 or so a year...it's actually $4200. That's what happens when you buy a new house, you get to pay the current taxable amount...not what the previous owners were paying when they purchased the house 12 years earlier.

What sucks is if you don't want to do escrow the mortgage company hits you with a fee. Either way they want their money. I think it was like an $800 hit if I didn't want to do Escrow. WTF? :cannon:
