Barrett-Jackson auction is this weekend(actually Thrs-Sun), Speed Channel, if youre interested in seeing where prices are on Muscle cars, this has some interesting cars crossing the block. Fun to watch for a little while, nice cars, but the announcers are, for the most part, full of crap.

Yeah I watched it. That's why I'll never have a 60'era stang or any other older musclecar. Too many people with too much money and not enough common sense!!! I'll stick with the fox-bodied mustangs-a helluva lot cheaper!!! The announcers said there were a lot of smart buyers  -I don't think so!! Stupid yes, smart no.

The show makes me sick. I really can't watch it. It pisses me off that people are spending that much and its taking car away for my and my friends. I was lucky to get my 442 before this muscle car craze, I paid $3500 and now I can sell it for twice that much but my car needs a paint job. It pisses me off, rust buckets are going for to much. I can't wait till this is craze is over so me and my friend's can go back and buy muscle cars for real prices

Yes, the prices are absolutely nuts on older muscle cars. Yuppies spending their inheritance to recapture a slice of their youth I suppose. The upside is that the parts available for restoration now are 10 fold what they were 20 years ago. The downside is that it now costs about 40 thousand and up for a body off restoration done by a pro and most regular body shops won't touch restoration jobs with a ten foot pole. I don't know about you, but I don't have 40 K laying around collecting dust. So, I guess I'll keep working on my cars the same way I always have: one piece at a time.

I have to agree with you guys. I wanted a 60's era stang but couldn't even find a decent one for $2500. I'll stick to the newer cars and for the price of one of those rust buckets I can have a fast car and one that looks good! Ebay doesn't help. Has anyone seen the pieces of crap people are trying to sell!! Guys let a classic car sit for 30 years then see that restored ones go for a lot of cash. Then they put their rusted out hulk, which is of course missing 65% of it's parts on ebay!! Thats why I have a fox body stang. Cheap, easy to work on and parts are plentiful!! Psyco Diver 69 you're lucky to have gotten one when you did. I dig those 442s!! Hope to see it at the track this year!!
