So my wife's Plymouth minivan has no A/C and we don't want to pay the big $$$ at the dealer shop for service since it's an older car by now... anyone know a place to go get the A/C repaired or replaced without getting ripped off? The closer to Ann Arbor the better..

If you know anything about it yourself you can buy all the stuff to diagnose/fix it at autozone.

You get a recharge kit with dye in it, recharge the system, then it comes with a small blacklight that you use to find the leaks.

After that its all simple, unbolt the lines and replace the o-rings and recharge the system again and you're good to go.

Let's say I've never done any kind of A/C stuff... would it still be pretty easy?

I tend to be good at taking things apart... it's getting it back together that I need to work on... :(

Its really not a big deal.. If you have an Advance Auto parts by your house go there, the people are more helpful than any other parts places i've been to.

If you didn't already buy this, I have one I just purchased. Came with black light, die, and refill with pressure guage. $30. Ended up being the AC pressure switch. But I opened up the kit already so I can't return. $20 if you want it.

PM me if interested. It's a universal kit so it will work for you. Only thing is, I'm East side....I think your West.

You could say that :D It'd probably cost me about $10 in gas just to come out there and get it  Thanks for the offer though!
