Nitrous Bottle NO-NO

After reading a few posts from other sites, I have found the people still use torches to heat their Nitrous bottles.DO NOT DO THIS. Even if you keep the torch moving, you can still weaken the structure of the bottle. Here are some pictures of a bottle explosion. This bottle was NOT heated with a torch, it failed on its own(yes it can happen), that is why bottles have to be recertified, but why help it fail with a torch.

Use only warm water, air, heating pad, or bottle warmer, and watch your bottle pressure.

Holy crap!! I can't believe people still use torches to heat NOS bottles! Hello nitrous is UNDER PRESSURE. Thanks for the heads up Strtracer. :cheers: Should help any new nitrous users from experiencing the same disaster this guy went through! BTW if you see someone heating a nitrous bottle with a torch-get the hell away from them! :mad:

They're just the best way to get the point across. I wish I had the ones from CarCraft from quite a few years ago, guy with a refill station blew his garage apart. Lifted the roof, blew off the garage door, bowed the walls, damaged the car, and broke the guys leg.
Back when SuperShops was around, they overfilled a guys bottle(they did that alot, by request), and he stuck it in a bathtub of really hot water(why?? it was already maxed out), it blew the tub and wall apart. Luckily no one was in the bathroom when it went off.

This is just intended to remind people that you are dealing with a pressure vessel with over 800psi when its low, 1400 when its full and warm. Ive been spraying since the very early 80's, and have never experienced a component failure. Two of my bottles are the old style(long and narrow), they just re-certed this summer with no problem. Ive sprayed from 75 to 225 on 6 different vehicles, and the worse damage Ive ever had was lifting a head on my Olds. No broken rods, no cracked pistons, no holes in the block, no backfires. Why, cause I use common sense, I work within the paramaters of the kit, and I dont go beyond what the engine is capable of handling.

I gaurantee that anybody nearby :turd: :turd: their pants when that went off. Think 2liter bottle bomb x1000. And yes, that is the quarterpanel from the car.

I've seen lots of people heating their bottle with a torch. :nono:

Anyways, nitrous is really nothing to worry about Al. I've never had one problem and I was using a 125 shot...2-3 15lb bottles a week. :D

The only thing I ever did was blow headgaskets due to the heads being warped.(Didn't know that beforehand) Sprayed 220 and didn't kill anything. Man that was a rush!!!! Strtracr can you repost those pics. Want to send them to a few people!!!

Your car insurance would be laughing its ass of, cause they wont have to pay a dime. Now your homeowners is a different story.

Im gonna read my policy and see what it says about pressurized gas containers, Ive got more than just Nitrous around here.
