I walked Motorcity dragway about 8 years ago. Looks just like the pictures. Our club looked into contacting the owner of th track to see what it would take to get it to re-open. Long sotry short aint going to happen due to husing near by :(

When I lived at 16 & Gratiot my old neighbor mentioned him and some guys who had the financial backing tried to get it to reopen. They even had some type of wall to curb the sound. Said it was shot down because of some b.s. from some local farmers.

They don't want us racing on the street, but they also don't want to give us a place close-by to race legally.

Detroit voted down a racetrack that would have gone up near the fairgrounds I believe. I guess that's too much noise-it'll drown out the gunfire. Hate that damn city!

Yeah they wanted to put it in the Fairgrounds, but the residents wouldn't allow it.

I have a news article about AHSA and trying to get help with a track but nothing ever happened. The page is to big to put on you site :( If I fit it to the proper size you could never read it :( Is the another way I can post this? OK try this http://www.ahsa.cc/forum/index.php?act=ST&f=2&t=297&st=0#entry1669

People always want it both way-we don't want street racing but we don't want a track either. I guess they think the problem will just go away by itself.
