Just got off the phone with a friend. He was approached by a couple of guys in a SUV in Warren this morning. They supposedly had some high end surround sound systems that were "extras" that they could sell for a really good price. He fell for it. They even showed him a magazine with an add showing the exact system advertised for $3000. He bought them for $400. They are cheap, chinese made crap, not worth the boxes they are packed in.
Just be aware, if you are approached, get the plate #.
Remember If it sounds to good to be true, it probably is
This is known as the "White Van Scam" and goes on around the country and in Canada. Stuff being sold out of the backs of cars or trucks on the street is usually crap.

He called me all excited about this great deal, and Im like "you just got fucked". typed in the info on Yahoo search, and the company address is a Suite in California. No specs on the equipment they sell except that they are "800 Watts". Did some more searching and found forums with all these people saying how they got scammed from all over the place. Needless to say, my buddy is seriously bummed. One guy from Detroit said he even took the plate # just in case, and when he reported them to the cops, the plate came back as phony.

This scam has been going for years. I got approached by guys with the EXACT same scam when I first got my license, at my bank, while waiting in the drive thru line at Standard Federal on Schoenherr a couple blocks south of Hall. I was smart enough to not buy anything.
