Had to go get it with something, and I had to get them both home somehow

It is a 289 automatic, numbers matching, the guy I bought it from bought it from the original owner in 2000. I got the original purchase receipt, the lady got $250 for her trade in, a 1960 Thunderbird. Also got the window sticker, owner's manual, a sales brochure for the 68 Fairlane (Torino is a Fairlane trim level), the warantee booklet and the little metal warantee tag still on its tag board backing. Car is real clean, its a good foundation for my project, mod motor, manual tranny, some 17 x 9 steelies with dog dishes and it'll progress from there as time goes on. Wheels will problaby happen pretty fast as it needs tires anyway.

I actually found it on e-bay, retards that put in whatever and 1 for a bid, then when you outbid them it automatically makes your bid the increment more. That is what I won the auction for, so the 10 and the 1 are there because of that.

I was guessing it was something along those lines...

Did you figure out details about the swap yet? Hopefully it won't be a major PITA.

I haven't figured out the details yet. Step one is measurements. Then I'll go from there. Getting pictures won't be a problem :)

part one of measurements is done, a Mustang II conversion and shock tower elimination is most definitely necessary. And I want to try to do it this winter because the carb has already greatly pissed me off and some things I have found have me questioning how well anything that was done to the car was done. The easiest way to undo is to do my way.

Unfortunately while it may not be how it always goes it is how things go far, far too often. The Mustang II conversion is nice though, tubular control arms, coil over's, etc. To just do that stuff with the stock type suspension with the towers is only a few hundred bucks less than the MII conversion which also includes disc brakes. So its not a bad deal at all really.

That's the plan, if it fits under the hood. I'm fond of the stock hood, and I don't really know what I'd do for an aftermarket hood anyway.

I'm guessing you're gonna use a motor plate? Yeah keep the stock hood if you can. If you have to you could maybe have a cowl hood fabbed from steel or fiberglass. I'm sure that'll cost big $$ thtough. You going to Ubly on Saturday?

What's going on at Ubly Saturday? I guess I've seen talk about it but just general talk without details. I'll problaby drive theLighnting if I were to go. I'm supposed to get it back from the dealer tomorrow with the repairs finished from someone trying to steal it last week. The torino broke two rocker arms and I've got at least one bent push rod. This is on top of the carb that didn't have gaskets under it or the spacer. and the warped spacer which caused me to break the carb base. The carb is already fixed. I've got new rockers to replace the broke ones already. I found the push rod while adjusting rockers. So even if I get it running again I'm not feeling like I should be taking it out of town with all the issues that have popped up while I've been driving it.

Bring the truck! I'm curious to see what it'll do. Is it stock? Love the Lightnings! :bna:

Yeah its stock. Where exactly is Ubly? What time does stuff start? What's it cost to run? I'm interested. I haven't been to the track since spring in KC. I'd like to see what kind of stuff gets out to the track here. Isn't something going on at Milan Saturday too?

The thing about this car is, I went and looked at it before bidding on it. Everything seemed to be ok. You are never going to be able to tell by looking at a car that a week of driving it is gonna break two rockers, you know? No matter what you do,
