I burned 2nd gear in the trans. It came out hard and then when I shifted it into 2nd it just let go. I did pull it off the ground about a foot though!
I will be thrashing to get it reclutched, my trans is an Art Carr T350, does anyone know a very good trans rebuilder?

Call Diamond and ask for his buddy Chris's number. He's in the same building as Garys old shop.

I'll be wrenching all day tomorrow but I will call him and get the #. Thanks.
Sounds like the intermediate sprag and/or outer race failed. This is the weak link in the TH350 (as well as the TH400's also). I'd give Rich Bewick a call. Not sure of his number offhand, but I believe he's in Troy. He does a lot of high end race stuff and has been building tranny's for quite some time, and he stands behind his work. If I didn't do my own trans work, I'd go to him.

I've always heard good things of Rich Bewick, but I have yet to meet and talk to the man.
Oh I did mention that this is an Art Carr T350? I thought all the best parts were already in it.

Yes, it more than likely has all the good stuff in it already, but you're already pushing this trans to it's limits with the times you're running. You might want to consider upgrading to a TH400.
You might already know this, but it's important that you start your burnout in 2nd gear (ideally 3rd, if you can do it), and always shift to high gear. This is important to help keep your intermediate sprag from failing. Also, when the tires are spinning and you drive out of the water box, be sure to let out of the throttle before the tires grab. A lot of people unknowingly destroy their trannys before they even stage their car.

When did you buy that trans, Art Carr sold the business a few years ago, and the new owner has let the quality go to shit, substituting cheaper parts to increase profit.

Yep, inferior parts. The new owner took over about 5 yrs ago, Art Carr tried to get the shop back but the guy wouldnt give him the name, so he's started another trans shop, I'll try to find the name. This kinda shit is happening alot, someone builds a good business, decides to retire or move on, sells the biz to someone who turns out to be a tool, and the original owner's name goes to shit. Fuck, happens right here it Deetroit.

Art Carr Performance Products is the company you dont want to deal with, they moved the operation to Texas after buying it from Art Carr in 1998
Art Carr Transmission Company is in Huntington Beach, Cali, but I can find no current info, this is the company that Art Carr started ,around 2002, to repair his damaged reputation.

That sucks. I had Masta do my c4 when I blew it to shit a few years ago. Seems like he does good work.

I have consider going to a T400, but if I ever decide to change it I woiuld go with a Power Glide. I always start off in 2nd in the burnout box, and then into 3rd. I bought this trands in 2001 from Texas. I was told it was good for 1500 hp, and was assured it wouls be rollerized. I did get it out and to a builder. The guys name is Greg E., near 14 mile and Mound. This is another guy that works out of his garage. I did question him on some high hp trans builds and he said he has done transmissions for the monster truck Preditor.
I will let everyone see his work at Ubly for sure. I should have this back by next thursday and I will have the torque converter back by next friday. Thanks for all the help, sorry I didn't try anyone you guys sugested but We'll see what happens.
